About TVVCSF
The Tees Valley Voluntary and Community Sector Forum was formed in 2005 and is a project supported by Change Up funding through Capacity Builders. The Forum is governed by means of an elected Steering Group which comprises 3 representatives of VCS groups from each district of Tees Valley plus 5 representatives from VCS organisations operating across the sub region.

Steering Group members represent the sector on many key strategic partnerships including Tees Valley Unlimited, VONNE (Voluntary Organisations Network North East), North East Social Enterprise Partnership, Tees Valley Community Foundation, Tees Valley Working Together Consortium, North East Rural Affairs Forum, the Development Trusts Association and many others. Steering Group members also sit on Redcar and Cleveland, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Stockton Community Networks and also Darlington's Voluntary Sector Network.

Why do we need a Tees Valley VCS Forum?

It is important that the voluntary and community sector is visible and organised across Tees Valley. The Forum's purpose is to help address the needs of the sector and ensure it is well represented, being able to influence the distribution of resources, particularly those allocated at regional and sub regional level.

What does the Forum do?

  • Discuss and debate key policy issues for the sector at a sub regional level
  • Help to share good practice, ideas and information
  • Oversee activities which strengthen the support available to voluntary and community groups not least by listening to the needs of its members
  • Represent the sector and lobby policy makers in Tees Valley and Regionally
  • Continually promote recognition for the work which the VCS does and its contribution to both social justice and economic regeneration of our area
  • Liaise and partner with other VCS bodies
  • Signpost to partners both within and external to the VCS
  • Provide a conduit to support the VCS (where applicable) in working with the public sector
Accountable body
Whilst the Forum belongs to the whole Voluntary and Community Sector operates across the Tees Valley, its accountable body and operational host is currently Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency.
